چکیده

Over the next few decades European companies will come under intense pressure to cut their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in an effort to achieve very ambitious carbon reduction targets at national, EU and global levels by 2050. This paper presents a framework for the decarbonisation of their logistical activities based on five key freight transport parameters: freight transport intensity, modal split, vehicle utilization, energy efficiency and the carbon intensity of the energy used in logistics. It examines the potential to cut GHG emissions by altering each of these parameters. Consideration is also given to the decarbonisation of warehousing operations. It is concluded that many of the GHGreduction measures will also yield financial benefit. The decarbonisation of other sectors of the economy may, however, generate greater demand for logistics services.

Spatial Distribution of Energy Consumption and Carbon Emission of Regional Logistics

Facing serious energy-related constraints and environmental stress, the development of the green logistics industry is restricted by degrees of logistics energy utilization and carbon emissions. Considering different logistics spatial distributions, this paper uses the degree of regional logistics energy utilization and the spatial distribution of carbon emissions as two indicators of green log...

A New Mathematical Model for the Green Vehicle Routing Problem by Considering a Bi-Fuel Mixed Vehicle Fleet

This paper formulates a mathematical model for the Green Vehicle Routing Problem (GVRP), incorporating bi-fuel (natural gas and gasoline) pickup trucks in a mixed vehicle fleet. The objective is to minimize overall costs relating to service (earliness and tardiness), transportation (fixed, variable and fuel), and carbon emissions. To reflect a real-world situation, the study considers: (1) a co...

Multi-objective optimization for creating a low-carbon logistics system through community-based action

Against global warming and environmental degradation, many interests have been paid to the studies popularly termed reverse, closed, green or sustainable logistics (Fiksel, 2010; Nikolopoulou and Ierapetritou, 2012; Srivastava, 2007). Recently, we concerned with a reverse logistics optimization in a practical manner (Shimizu and Sakaguchi, 2013) and deployed an idea for realizing an infrastruct...

Optimization of Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows for Cold Chain Logistics Based on Carbon Tax

In order to reduce the cost pressure on cold-chain logistics brought by the carbon tax policy, this paper investigates optimization of Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) with time windows for cold-chain logistics based on carbon tax in China. Then, a green and low-carbon cold chain logistics distribution route optimization model with minimum cost is constructed. Taking the lowest cost as the objecti...
